BlackBerry World is the official app
store for BlackBerry smartphones and tablets.
Research In Motion, which changed its name to BlackBerry in 2013, first disclosed plans for an
app store in 2008. BlackBerry App World launched the following year, and “App” was dropped from the
name in 2013. That same year, BlackBerry said 70,000 apps would be available for the BlackBerry 10
operating system at its launch.
BlackBerry World was also the name of BlackBerry’s annual developer conference, which is now
called BlackBerry Live.
