Octopus is the production code name for Horizon Data, a VMware file-sharing
application for the enterprise. The product, which has been compared to Dropbox, provides secure
data synching and sharing for end users across all devices while allowing IT to retain control of
corporate data and define data sharing policies.
At VMworld 2012, VMware announced that Horizon Data will be part of the new VMware Horizon
Suite, which will also include Horizon Application Manager and Horizon Mobile as well.
