SoMoClo (social, mobile and cloud)

SoMoClo (social, mobile and cloud) is the convergence of collaborative, on-the-go technologies that allow users to access data and applications from anywhere at any time.

In the IT industry, SoMoClo represents a decentralized approach to computing, in which data and applications live in a variety of places, are accessed from any number of endpoints and are shared more easily. This approach stands in stark contrast to traditional client/server computing; under that model, an organization's data and applications live in the corporate data center, and users can access them only from company-issued PCs.

The consumerization of IT has accelerated the emergence of SoMoClo principles in the enterprise. End users are accustomed to social, mobile and cloud computing in their personal lives, and their work styles are adapting as a result. Bring your own device programs, cloud storage and file-sharing services and social collaboration tools are all examples of SoMoClo making its way into the business world.
