VMware Horizon Workspace

VMware Horizon Workspace is enterprise mobility management software that creates a central repository where users can access corporate data, applications and virtual desktops from a variety of endpoint devices.

Users of VMware Horizon Workspace can self-provision applications through an enterprise app store and securely share data with colleagues and clients. The software also offers single sign-on capabilities through a back-end identity management system.

Workspace is part of the VMware Horizon Suite, a set of products that let an IT department manage and secure the delivery of corporate assets to employee computers, smartphones and tablets. Workspace relies on a number of other VMware technologies in the suite, including Horizon View for desktop virtualization and Horizon Data for file storage and synchronization.

The method of accessing certain assets through VMware Horizon Workspace depends on the endpoint device being used. Android and iOS devices, for example, have native Horizon View clients for accessing virtual desktops. Other smartphones and tablets must rely on HTML5 browser-based access using VMware's AppBlast technology.

Before Horizon Workspace launched in February 2013, VMware had previously offered Horizon Application Manager, a portal for accessing corporate applications. Workspace includes some of those features and integrates them with data and desktop delivery.
