About BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook tablet
For years, BlackBerry smartphones by Research in Motion (RIM) have been the de facto device for mobile workers. BlackBerry smartphones give IT administrators a high level of control, especially when it comes to email, the most important mobile application of all. And in recent years, RIM has updated its BlackBerry smartphones with touchscreens, faster processors and sleeker designs to compete with the iPhone and other next-generation mobile devices. In 2011, the company also released its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. There were hopes that the tablet would have the same kinds of enterprise success that BlackBerry smartphones have, but early sales were well below forecasts. This section features news on BlackBerry smartphones and the PlayBook tablet, plus advice for admins whose organizations support these devices.
